All About The Purple Sanicle

There also are different types of the Purple Sanicle.

        The Purple Sanicle is a very interesting plant. The Purple Sanicle's scientific name is "Sanicula bipinnatifida".  The Purple Sanicle is also called "Shoe Buttons, Pincushon, and Purple Sankeroot. It looks like a purple ball with purple twigs sticking out of it. It's maximum height is about 60 centimeters tall. The Purple Sanicle's leaves itself is close to 19 centimeters long, including the long blades on them. Do you ask if it's edible? Yes it is edible but it has no purpose for it's edibility. But, the Purple Sanicle's root was used as poultice ( a soft material for wounds) for snake bites. That's why another name for Purple Sanicle is Snakeroot.
